Study Guides
A committee of teachers has prepared a series of age appropriate guides to provide information concerning 20th century American history to help visitors to the museum to better understand the living history presentation. There are 3 grade level guides and each is divided into 4 categories: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
Student Field Trips
As per John Glenn’s wishes, the museum is primarily an educational facility. We host many school groups, especially 3rd & 4th graders when they study Ohio history. We strive to provide an enjoyable learning experience that aligns with those educational standards.
Christmas at the House
During the holiday season we offer “Christmas at the House” for groups of younger students. Following a brief orientation in our classroom and tour of the main floor of the Glenn Home, the students take a seat on the living room floor around the old-fashioned Christmas tree where they listen to the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which was written in 1939. They then return to the classroom where they make a Rudolph ornament to take home for their own tree as a momento of this special program.
Harper Cabin Tours
While in New Concord, we are able to offer tours in conjunction with the William Rainey Harper Cabin. A two story 19th century log cabin built along Main Street just a block down from the John & Annie Glenn Museum. This cabin was home to the first president of the University of Chicago and theological prodigy, William Rainy Harper.
