2022 Opening Day: May 1st

Since opening in 2002, the John & Annie Glenn Museum has hosted many different events. Some we have come to look forward to each year such as our Space Camp for students in July (in honor of John’s birthday) and our Holiday Open House.

The following is a list of other events we have presented, at least once.

John Glenn Centennial Celebration (7-2021) Events took place throughout Guernsey County, where John Glenn was born, and Muskingum County, where he was raised, in honor of what would have been his 100th Birthday.

“Annie Tea” (2-17-20) – Held on Annie Glenn’s 100th birthday, this event honored her century of commitment, compassion, and courage.

Celebration of the John Glenn’s boyhood home being listed as a National Register Historic Place (5-19-19) – The public was invited to share in the celebration of this honor which is given only to sites associated with people or events which made significant contributions to our nation’s history.

20th Anniversary of John’s 1998 Space Shuttle Flight (10-29-2018) – A crowd gathered in the museum’s classroom to share their memories of that exciting time, 20 years to the day, that John Glenn returned to space and became the oldest person ever to fly in space.

Celebration of the Museum being added to Ohio History Connection’s statewide system (8-27-2016) – The public was invited to celebrate this mutually beneficial partnership which is helping to ensure the museum’s long-term preservation.

Celebration of a Life Together (4-17-10) – We were honored to have John & Annie Glenn join us for this dinner and program hosted in honor of their 67th wedding anniversary. The event was held at their alma mater, Muskingum College (now Muskingum University).

“Remarkable Women; Past, Present, Future” – A luncheon held annually in honor of Annie Glenn in which we recognize women from our local community who have contributed greatly in her same spirit and manner.

Dinner & a Movie – Community members have greatly enjoyed these special evenings. Movie selections have included some from the 1930’s, 1940’s, American Girl films that go along with our living history tours as well as space-themed films. Titles have included The More the Merrier, Philadelphia Story, Casablanca, Broadway Melody, The Unlimited, Holiday, Remember the Night, Libeled Lady, Stagecoach, His Girl Friday, Ball of Fire, Mrs. Miniver, Swingtime, and Miracle on 34th Street, Kit Kittridge: An American Girl in the Great Depression, Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front, The Right Stuff and John Glenn; a Life of Service.

A Dolls’ Day Out Tea – A tea for girls, their mothers, grandmothers or other special lady in their life as well as their favorite doll.
